At least eight people have died in a shooting at a school in the Austrian city of Graz, Austrian media reported on Tuesday. Police responded to the educational center around 10:00 in the morning after hearing gunshots.
Police stated that an operation was taking place on Dreierschuetzengasse street, where the BORG institute is located. Several people have died, confirmed the Ministry of the Interior to the public radio and television broadcaster ORF, while a police spokesperson mentioned that the alleged perpetrator is among the deceased.
ORF reported that several people were seriously injured, including students and teachers, and the attacker appears to be a student. A suspect was reportedly found dead in one of the restrooms, according to initial indications.
"The situation is currently very confusing. However, it could be a case of indiscriminate shooting," a police source told the APA news agency.
Graz, the second largest city in Austria, is located in the southeast of the country and has around 300,000 inhabitants.
