New night of attacks between Iran and Israel amid a new exchange of threats between the authorities of both countries that show no signs of the conflict easing.
The Islamic Republic announced that it had launched about 100 missiles overnight, which left eight dead and a hundred injured in several Israeli cities. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared that the residents of Tehran "will pay the price, and soon" for these attacks.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army announced that its fighter jets had attacked ten command centers in Tehran belonging to the Iranian Quds Force, an elite branch of its Revolutionary Guard that carries out military and intelligence operations outside of Iran.
On the other hand, Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian urged all citizens to set aside their differences and unite against Israel, while reiterating that his country has no intention of developing nuclear weapons but will pursue its right to nuclear energy and research.
Pakistan closes border with Iran triggering internal crisis
Pakistani authorities have closed border crossings with Iran in the Baluchistan province for pedestrian transit due to "regional instability" following the escalation of attacks between Iran and Israel, a measure that has already caused a severe fuel crisis and food shortages in the region.
"All border crossings with Iran have been closed for pedestrian movement due to the Iran-Israel conflict," confirmed Shahid Rind, a Baluchistan government spokesperson to EFE on Monday. Baluchistan shares a border of about 900 km with Iran.
Although pedestrian transit is completely closed, the Taftan crossing, the most important for trade, remains partially operational.
According to local officials, occasional entry of commercial vehicles from Iran is still allowed, but outbound traffic from Pakistan has been halted.
The measure is already having a severe impact on the local population. "The fuel crisis has worsened as Iranian oil supply has been severely affected," reported the local newspaper Dawn on Monday.
Despite the closure, authorities have assured that Pakistani citizens stranded in Iran will be allowed entry.
