The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has decided today to leave the G-7 summit in Alberta, Canada, to return to Washington and follow from there the war between Israel and Iran. Trump also posted a message on his social network Truth Social declaring that "Everyone must evacuate Tehran immediately".
Trump's warning came hours after the Israeli Armed Forces posted a message in Persian on social media calling for the immediate evacuation of a large part of the Iranian capital due to the military actions they are about to undertake. According to the British newspaper 'The Guardian,' Israel's post is very similar to those Israel has been posting since the Gaza war began in October 2023.
Trump's decision has sparked speculation about a possible U.S. entry into the conflict on Israel's side or an increase in the support Washington is providing to Tel Aviv, as it coincides with a sudden increase in U.S. military presence in Europe and the Indian Ocean, especially of logistical support units that can assist in bombings.
The United States and the United Kingdom have evacuated Al Udeid Air Base on the outskirts of the Qatari capital, Doha, possibly in anticipation of Iranian attacks on the country located in the Persian Gulf, with which Tehran shares the world's largest natural gas field, South Pars-North Dome, which contains a fifth of the world's hydrocarbon reserves. However, the measure seems to have limited effectiveness, as the U.S. has at least 18 other bases within the range of Iran's missiles. Washington has also ordered the nuclear aircraft carrier 'Nimitz' to head to the Middle East, where it will join its twin, the 'Carl Vinson.' Other ships have received similar orders and are heading to the Eastern Mediterranean and the Sea of Oman.
This is not the case for Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean, where Washington and London have a joint base with at least four heavy B-52 bombers, according to commercial satellite images. In April, the U.S. seemed to have withdrawn the more sophisticated B-2 bombers from Diego Garcia, which theoretically would be more suitable for an attack on the Fordow nuclear complex in Iran, located 500 meters underground and, although attacked by Israel, does not appear to have been damaged.
