U.S. President Donald Trump continues to play with ambiguity. When asked if he would join Israeli attacks against Iran, he replied: "'I may do it, I may not to do it'."
Trump stated on Wednesday that Iran contacted the United States to negotiate, after several days of attacks between the Islamic Republic and Israel. "Yes," responded the U.S. president when asked if Iran had contacted the United States. "I said it's very late to be talking (...) There's a big difference between now and a week ago, right?" he added. "They've suggested that they come to the White House," he said, calling the proposal "courageous"
Trump declared on Wednesday that his patience with Iran has run out: "had already run out. That's why we're doing what we're doing." Is it too late to negotiate? he was asked. "Nothing is too late," he replied.
However, the Iranian side denied on the same Wednesday that such a proposal had taken place.
"No Iranian official has ever asked to grovel at the gates of the White House. The only thing more despicable than his lies is his cowardly threat to 'take out' Iran's supreme leader." said Iran's permanent mission to the UN on its X account.
Iran, as the latter added, "DOES NOT negotiate under pressure, WILL NOT accept peace under pressure, much less with a declining warmonger clinging to relevance." It also emphasized that it will respond to any threat or action with reciprocal measures.
Trump had left open the possibility of a military attack against Iran on Wednesday and stated that "no one knows" what his decision will be: "I may do it. I may not to do it. I mean, no one knows what I'm going to do," he pointed out.
