According to a Ryanair spokesperson, the plane "was taxiing to the stop when the wingtip made contact with a fence at Kalamata Airport"

Images shared on social media show the damaged wing of the plane, apparently "torn from its usual position". Despite the incident, emergency services responded to the scene and all passengers "disembarked normally". Subsequently, the necessary inspections and maintenance were carried out before resuming operations," explained the Ryanair spokesperson.

Data from FlightAware indicates that the flight departed from London at 8:46 a.m. (local time) and landed in Kalamata at 2:45 p.m. (local time). This incident in Greece is not the only one this year where an aircraft veered off the runway.

On June 12, a JetBlue plane skidded off the runway while attempting to land at Boston's Logan International Airport. Airport security footage showed passengers of that Airbus A220 exiting the plane via stairs, with no reported injuries, and the Massachusetts Port Authority is still investigating the causes of that incident.
