The war between Iran and Israel, in which the United States got involved after bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday, has been on standby since this morning as no attacks have been reported since 4 a.m.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reiterated tonight that there is a ceasefire between Israel and Iran and stated that the bombing he ordered over the weekend on three key points of the Iranian nuclear program "brought everyone together and sealed the deal."
The message comes hours after the President himself stated that Israel and Iran have reached a "total ceasefire" of twelve hours, after which - he noted - the war between both countries "will be considered over."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed the ceasefire announced by Trump early Tuesday, as reported by Sal Emergui.
Israeli opposition leader calls for an end to the war in Gaza
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid called on Tuesday for "an end to the war" in Gaza following the ceasefire announcement in the conflict initiated on June 13 by Israel against Iran.
"And now Gaza. It's time to end it there too. Retrieve the hostages, end the war," Lapid wrote in a message on X.
Israel was the first to officially accept Trump's ceasefire, stating that it had achieved its war objectives, eliminated the dual nuclear and missile threat from Iran, and would respond firmly if the Iranians do not respect the truce.
Israel "has eliminated an immediate existential dual threat: nuclear and ballistic," the Israeli government stated in a release, thanking President "Trump and the United States for their defense support and participation in eliminating the
Families of Israeli hostages call for extending the ceasefire with Iran to Gaza Strip
Families of Israelis kidnapped in Hamas attacks on October 7 called on the Israeli Government on Tuesday to extend the ceasefire with Iran to the Gaza Strip to release their loved ones.
"The ceasefire agreement must be expanded to include Gaza; we urge the Government to engage in urgent negotiations to allow the return of all hostages and end the war. Those who achieve a ceasefire with Iran can also end the war in Gaza," said the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons, representing most relatives of those kidnapped by Hamas.
The message comes after US President Donald Trump announced last night a ceasefire agreement to end the escalation of hostilities between Israel and Iran over the past 12 days, which has resulted in over twenty deaths in Israeli territory and more than 400 in the Islamic Republic.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Tuesday that Israel has accepted Trump's ceasefire proposal.
