Another night of terror in Ukraine, where Russia has launched a new massive attack, the largest since the beginning of the war, with 477 drones and 60 missiles over several regions. Ukrainian defenses were able to shoot down 211 drones and 38 missiles. In the city of Smila, in the center of the country, authorities reported six injured, including a minor, in an attack on a residential building with drones and missiles.
Additionally, the Ukrainian Army has suffered the loss of an F16 fighter jet, which crashed while trying to repel part of the Russian attack. It is the third aircraft of this type that Ukraine has lost since the beginning of the war. "The pilot used all onboard weapons and shot down seven aerial targets. When shooting down the last one, his aircraft was damaged and began to lose altitude," the Air Force reported.
After their failed initial advance on the capital, Kiev, in the first weeks following the February 2022 invasion, Russian troops have focused on capturing the entire Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine. The city of Kostiantynivka has been a significant target. Ukrainian forces have defended the city during months of fierce assaults, and the regional governor urged remaining residents to evacuate this week due to deteriorating infrastructure.
