The Traffic Brigade of the Zamora Command of the Civil Guard has determined that the most probable causes of the accident of Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, are, as initially pointed out, a problem with a wheel of the vehicle and excessive speed.
The Traffic subsector is finalizing the expert report regarding the accident that occurred at kilometer 63.300 of the A-52 that connects Pontevedra with Benavente, towards the town of Zamora, around 00:40 on Thursday, July 3. All the evidence left by an accident in which the subsequent vehicle fire has greatly complicated the investigation has been analyzed.
However, the marks left by one of the wheels on the road surface, about 100 meters from the impact site, with a length of about 50 meters, may have been decisive in drawing these preliminary conclusions.
All the tests carried out by this investigative group point to Diogo Jota as the driver of the car. According to EL MUNDO, it has been the relatives who, through the belongings of the young men, have been able to determine the identities and the position of the occupants since the fire had considerably damaged the bodies of the two footballers.
The report is still ongoing, but it is judicialized even though no crime has been committed. The investigating authority is the single court of Puebla de Sanabria, whose judge is Elena Rubio González.
