At least six people died and over fifty were injured in a massive attack launched by Russia on Wednesday night against the Ukrainian capital, as reported on Telegram by the governor of the Kiev region, Timur Tkachenko.
Thirty of the injured in the attack - which caused damage in 27 different locations in four districts of the Ukrainian capital - have been hospitalized, according to the governor, who added that the death toll could increase in the coming hours.
Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenski, posted a brief video on Telegram showing debris and a damaged building. "Kiev. Missile attack. Direct hit on a residential building. People are trapped under the rubble. All services are on-site. Russian terrorists," reads the president's message accompanying the video.
Meanwhile, Russia claims to have taken the Ukrainian stronghold of Chasiv Yar.
Additionally, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibiga, called on Thursday for immediate action against the Kremlin. "It is probably time to reset to zero all the deadlines given to Putin to demonstrate a constructive attitude. President Trump has been very generous and patient with Putin in trying to find a solution," Sibiga wrote in X, referring to the ten to twelve-day deadline that the US President has given to the Russian President to agree to peace.
Trump has threatened harsh sanctions if Putin does not agree to disarm within this timeframe. On July 14, Trump had initially given Putin a 50-day deadline which has now been reduced due to Russia's lack of interest in advancing towards peace. "Putin is doing this on purpose," Sibiga wrote in X. "He doesn't care about any attempts to end the killings. He only seeks to destroy and kill," added the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, who called Putin a "war criminal."
Ukraine denies Russia took Chasiv Yar
Ukraine denied on Thursday the Russian army's claim of taking the Ukrainian town of Chasiv Yar, a stronghold on the eastern front, stated an AFP spokesperson for a unit deployed in the area.
"I always advise not to consider the Russian Ministry of Defense as a source of information. They simply lie systematically, and merely asking us to comment on their latest lies is a mistake," stated Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Operational Strategic Group of Forces on Jortitsia.

Ukraine's significant funding gap will widen as the war intensifies and reforms stall
Ukraine's funding gap will significantly widen next year if Russia continues its intense attacks across the country and the government does not respond to the reform demands of foreign lenders, according to analysts.
The government allocates most of the state's revenue to the military and finances social and humanitarian spending with foreign aid, which, according to official data, has amounted to $139 billion since Russia launched its large-scale invasion in February 2022.
Central Bank Governor, Andriy Pyshnyi, stated that only about a third of the required $65 billion for both 2026 and 2027 has been promised, with negotiations underway to cover the rest.
A survey of eight economists conducted by the Economic Studies Center, a Kiev-based expert group, showed that Ukraine will need between $39 billion - the same amount as this year - and around $58 billion in external financing for just next year. The task is urgent.
"A key challenge for the government now is to seek an additional $10-15 billion to that volume of aid that partners have already promised for 2026," noted the Kiev-based investment firm ICU in a research note.
Ukraine calls to "reset to zero" Trump's deadline to Putin after a new Russian attack on Kiev
Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibiga, called on Thursday for immediate action against the Kremlin following a new massive attack on the Ukrainian capital that left at least two dead and fifty others injured.
"It is probably time to reset to zero all the deadlines given to Putin to demonstrate a constructive attitude. Russian Army claims to have taken the Ukrainian city of Chasiv Yar
Russia claimed on Thursday to have captured the town of Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine, considered a stronghold of Kiev forces and the site of intense fighting for months.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated in a release that Chasiv Yar "was liberated by Russian forces."
