A single shot, precise, in the neck ended the life this Wednesday of Charlie Kirk, 31 years old, a radical right-wing activist, very close to President Donald Trump. The murder took place at the University of Utah Valley, while Kirk was giving a talk outdoors in front of more than 3,000 people. Below, we offer a graphic chronology of how the shooting happened.
Wednesday, Sep. 10, at noon, Utah time (eight hours later in the Spanish mainland in all cases)
Charlie Kirk was already ready to chat with the students, who could attend the event for free. It was the first event of a tour he named American Comeback Tour and had 14 more dates scheduled at different university campuses.
Sitting in a tent to protect himself from the sun and with the sign of his tour, the well-known influencer greeted the audience and began to answer their questions.
About 20 minutes after starting his speech, Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck. Different videos of the moment show a person on the roof of the Losee Center, about 150 meters away.
He had just been asked about mass shootings in the US.
Panic took over the campus courtyard in seconds, causing attendees to flee to a safe place.
The reactions of political figures on social media were immediate, both from the Republican and Democratic parties.
Campus authorities announced that it had been completely closed and classes were canceled. They also reported that the police were going building by building and that the roads had been closed.
Videos showing the shot hitting Kirk's neck and the significant bleeding he was experiencing made the situation seem dire. About two hours after the attack, his spokesperson confirmed his death.
Trump reacted almost immediately, blaming "the radical left" and ordering that American flags at public buildings be flown at half-mast at least until Sunday night.
The victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
At a press conference, authorities stated they believed it was a targeted attack against him.

They reported that, until Wednesday night, two people had been arrested but were released without charges.
On social media, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed a third arrest, but this person was also released.
