In a press conference, Sánchez also confirmed the sending of the naval vessel Furor of the Spanish Navy, which will depart on Thursday from Cartagena (Murcia) with the aim of supporting the Global Sumud Flotilla, an international mission transporting humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

"The Government of Spain demands that international law be upheld and that the right of our citizens to sail the Mediterranean under safe conditions be respected," emphasized Sánchez, acknowledging the government's concern over accusations made by Israel against the participants of the flotilla.

The President specified that the patrol boat will depart "with all means necessary in case it is required to assist the flotilla and carry out any rescues." The goal, he said, is to protect both the Spaniards participating in the mission and the members of the 45 countries represented in the initiative.
