"There are no security guarantees, only friends and weapons," stated the president in New York, where he warned of the risks of the global arms race and the evolution of modern conflicts.

Zelensky cited as insufficient responses the intrusion of around twenty Russian drones into Polish airspace this month, as well as Russian fighter jets entering Estonian airspace, a NATO and European Union member country.

The Ukrainian president defended the Volunteer Coalition, composed of more than thirty countries, as a model of multilateral security that could be applied in other regions due to the inaction of international institutions.

Zelensky also warned that the world is facing the "most destructive arms race in human history," which threatens to escalate to the use of drones with nuclear capabilities.
