DIY and crafting enthusiasts had a go-to name on social media. Mr. Crafty Pants, an influencer showcasing his skills in this field through videos, had amassed almost 600,000 followers on YouTube and about 50,000 on Instagram.
However, his followers noticed a sharp decline in his activity, eventually leading to his disappearance with no recent updates. How could such a prolific content creator suddenly abandon his work without notice?
Behind this social media persona is Michael Booth, a 39-year-old American who has recently been arrested in Kentucky by the police for being in possession of sexually explicit material involving minors.
In addition to the possession charge, the accused will also face an alleged crime of distributing child pornography.
Authorities found six explicit images in his files, three involving children under 13 and three with teenagers. According to the investigation, this content was shared more than 15 times between August 4th and 7th of this year.
The key to his arrest was the tracking of his IP address, which led the authorities to Booth after accessing Kik, a commonly used app among the pedophile community as it presents itself as an anonymous messaging tool.
