López, in exile in Madrid since 2020, emphasized in a press conference that "there is no precedent in Venezuela where a Venezuelan born in the country has been stripped of their nationality".
The opposition leader warned that this threat is not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of political persecution that, in his opinion, began more than two decades ago. López recalled that for 20 years he has been the subject of trials and sentences related to his accusations against Maduro, whom he described as "corrupt, repressive, and a drug trafficker."
During the conference, López emphasized that the situation represents a direct attack on the freedom and rights of Venezuelan citizens, reflecting the systematic repression of the Maduro regime against political opponents. Additionally, he reiterated his commitment to democracy in Venezuela and the need for the international community to remain vigilant against these actions.
