Russia should never come to the conclusion that it can win a war against NATO or any of its members, warned Germany's Chief of Defense, Carsten Breuer, in a speech to the country's military leadership in Berlin this Friday.
"We must analyze the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine, adapt them to our reality, and develop our own concepts and structures accordingly because the war in Ukraine is our teacher," Breuer stated, recalling that Moscow expected a quick victory when it invaded its neighbor in 2022.
"We must prevent Russia from making another miscalculation like that. Russia should never think it can win a war against NATO or against a single member country."
Russia shoots down eleven Ukrainian drones over three of its regions and annexed Crimea
Russian anti-aircraft defenses shot down eleven Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over three regions of the country and the annexed Crimean peninsula last night, as reported by the Russian Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel this Friday.
According to the military report, five of the unmanned aerial vehicles shot down last night were intercepted and destroyed over the territory of Crimea, annexed by Moscow in 2014.
The remaining drones were downed over the regions of Bryansk (three) and Kursk (two), both bordering Ukraine, and in Kaluga (one), about 140 kilometers from the nearest point on the Ukrainian border.
Kenya asks Zelensky to facilitate the return of Kenyans recruited for the Ukraine war
The President of Kenya, William Ruto, had a call with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, discussing the "illegally recruited" young Kenyans to fight in the Ukraine war, following reports of African citizens fighting on the Russian side since the conflict began in February 2022.
"We have expressed our concern for the young Kenyans who have been illegally recruited to fight in the Ukraine war and have agreed to raise awareness about the dangers of such initiatives," Ruto stated just before midnight on the X social network.
The Kenyan leader asked Zelensky "to facilitate the release of any Kenyan in Ukrainian custody" and thanked him for "agreeing" to the request.
FSB arrests a Russian passing military information to a Ukrainian blogger
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today the arrest of a Russian citizen who was passing information from the country's Armed Forces to a Ukrainian blogger, controlled by Kiev's secret services.
"In the Tambov region, the illegal activity of a Russian citizen, who was assisting a foreign state in activities against the security of the Russian Federation, was identified and terminated," the FSB stated in a release.
According to the Federal Security Service, the detainee provided information via Telegram to a Ukrainian blogger about the location of units involved in military operations in Ukraine and transferred money to a "pro-Ukrainian terrorist organization banned in Russia."
Liege Airport suspends operations due to a drone; Russia denies involvement
Liege Airport in Belgium temporarily suspended flights due to a drone sighting, the second incident of its kind this week.
The drone sightings over the airports in the capital, Brussels, and Liege in the east of the country, led to the diversion of numerous incoming flights on Tuesday and the grounding of some ready-to-depart flights.
These incidents have forced the temporary closure of airports in several countries, including Sweden on Thursday. Some officials have attributed the events to a form of "hybrid warfare" by Russia, although Moscow has denied any involvement in the incidents.
Ukraine neutralizes 94 Russian drones, while 31 hit 11 locations in the country
Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 94 of the total of 128 drones launched by Russia against its territory during the past night, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Friday.
Another 31 unmanned aerial vehicles, all of them for attack purposes, hit eleven unspecified locations according to the Air Force.
At the time of the report, some Russian drones were still flying over Ukraine. Of the total drones launched in this attack by Russia, nearly eighty were Russian-Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones.
Ukraine holds "positive" talks with the United States on missile delivery

"The detachment is completing the clearance of the western part of Kupiansk and has liberated another 16 buildings in the last 24 hours," said the military officer, with his face covered and identified by the code name 'Lavrik'".
He added that Russian troops are advancing on three streets of the city, which before the outbreak of the war in February 2022, had over 26,000 inhabitants and is now practically surrounded according to Moscow.
