In a discussion focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Musk stated that in the not-so-distant future, work will become an optional activity for humans.
Musk, who participated in an AI conversation with Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, predicted that AI and humanoid robots will have such a profound social impact that, "in the long term, perhaps 10 to 20 years from now," work will be "like playing sports or a video game." This statement was met with applause by the audience at the event, which took place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The tech entrepreneur went further, asserting that robots will achieve global poverty elimination and make monetary currency "irrelevant." Musk highlighted that Tesla is developing the first "useful humanoid robots," which, in his opinion, will be "a revolution" and a way to "make everyone rich."
The conversation, moderated by Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, explored how architecture, models, and investments are driving a smarter and more interconnected future.
On the other hand, Nvidia's co-founder, Jensen Huang, shared a slightly different vision, expecting AI to make people like him feel busier and more productive due to the large volume of new ideas that will emerge.
The event was attended by top executives from dozens of key corporations, such as Chevron, Aramco, Pfizer, Alphabet's Google, Boeing, and IBM. The intervention of President Donald Trump was also expected. The forum took place during the first visit to the U.S. by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) since 2018, in an effort to promote the growing commercial ties between both countries.
