Wadephul Asserts NATO's Capability to Act and Defend Security in Europe
The German Foreign Minister, Johann Wadephul, stated on Wednesday that NATO is capable of acting and defending security in Europe, while affirming that Russian President, Vladimir Putin, will not succeed in weakening the Alliance.
"The message we convey as an alliance is clear: we are capable of acting, we are effective, and we are willing to defend what unites us, our security, our freedom, and the peace order in Europe," Wadephul declared before heading to the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Brussels on Wednesday.
He pointed out that "in these days when diplomatic channels are on fire to lay the proper foundations for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine," one must not lose sight of an "uncomfortable truth" that "Putin continues to seek to undermine European and Euro-Atlantic security."
