Following the strong tremor, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) issued a tsunami alert warning of possible waves up to three meters, especially in vulnerable coastal areas. So far, authorities have not provided official information on casualties or confirmed significant material damage, although they continue to assess the situation on the ground.

The earthquake occurred at 23:15 local time (14:15 GMT), with an epicenter located off the coast of Aomori Prefecture in the northeast of the Japanese archipelago. According to data released by the JMA, the seismic focus was situated at a depth of approximately 50 kilometers.

In the city of Hachinohe, the recorded intensity was 6 on the Japanese seismic scale, which focuses on measuring the level of agitation on the surface and the destructive potential. In the towns of Oirase and Hashikami, the movement reached an intensity of 6 lower. The public broadcaster NHK reported that several people were injured in a hotel in Hachinohe, although no additional details were provided.
