The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has described the recent intervention as an "incredible military feat", highlighting the extreme complexity of an operation in which, according to his words, "many died, most of them Cubans." He also stated that the operation allowed them to have a tactical advantage: "We caught them by surprise," he said in his speech at the meeting of Republican members of the House of Representatives.
Referring to the fall of the Venezuelan regime, the president justified the forcefulness of the actions by describing Nicolás Maduro as an "extremely violent" leader who "killed millions of people and tortured countless victims."
Trump also took the opportunity to mock what he considers the radical left's propaganda apparatus in the country. The president stated that it is "obvious" that the pro-Maduro demonstrations are funded, pointing out that the protesters carry "very expensive protest signs".
In a sarcastic tone, he even said he would like to "hire the designer" of such signage for his own Republican campaign, suggesting that the aesthetics of the protests are too professional to be spontaneous.
Furthermore, he ridiculed the way the ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro danced while the US Administration intensified its threats against him, and stated that he was trying to "imitate" him, as reported by Efe.
"He is a violent guy. He gets on stage and tries to imitate my dance a little. But he is violent and has killed millions of people," Trump said during his speech to Republican congressmen at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
In late 2025, amid escalating tensions between Caracas and Washington, Maduro took part in several public events at the Miraflores Palace and official marches where he danced to remixes built with quotes from his speeches, and even dedicated a fragment of John Lennon's song 'Imagine' to the Americans.
In his address to the congressmen, the president once again praised the incursion into Venezuela and insisted that Maduro was a violent man who "tortured" people: "They have a torture chamber in the center of Caracas that is now being closed, but he has tortured people," he stated.
On Monday, Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, pleaded not guilty to all charges they face in the Southern District of New York court, during their first appearance, after spending 48 hours since their capture in Caracas.
