Emergency services are trying to extinguish a fire in Kryvyi Rig, Dnipropetrovsk, following the Russian attacks.

Russia carried out large-scale bombings on Thursday night over Ukraine, resulting in at least four deaths in Kiev and an attack with a hypersonic and nuclear-capable missile Oreshnik in the west of the country.

President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned on Thursday night of the imminent risk of a "massive Russian attack" after Russia rejected a European plan for the deployment of a multinational force in Ukraine post-war.

In Kiev, police reported that several residential buildings were hit by drones, resulting in four deaths and 24 injuries.

Kiev Mayor Says Half of the City's Buildings Are Without Heating After Russian Attacks

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated on Friday that half of the city's apartment buildings, around 6,000, were without heating following a Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian capital.

He added that the city is facing issues with water supply and urged residents to temporarily leave the city if they have alternative sources of electricity and heating outside the city.

Russian Forces Take Control of a Village in the Ukrainian Region of Zaporizhia

Russian troops seized control of the village of Zelenyi in the Ukrainian region of Zaporizhia in the southeast of the country, as reported by the Ministry of Defense on Friday.

The ministry stated that between January 3 and 9, they conducted four massive group attacks on military and energy facilities in Ukraine, as well as on drone launch sites and ammunition depots.

A "massive" Russian nighttime attack on Ukraine damaged 20 residential buildings in Kiev and its suburbs, as well as the Qatar embassy, confirmed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday.

Zelensky mentioned that the Qatar embassy building was damaged by a Russian drone, along with 20 residential properties in the capital. The president confirmed the death toll of four, as previously provided by the police.

Some neighborhoods were left in darkness during what Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko described as a "massive attack with enemy missiles."
