Donald Trump has once again published private messages from NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and this time also from French President Emmanuel Macron. On this occasion, after a private conversation with Rutte and a meeting scheduled at the Davos forum starting today, Trump posted on his own social media a message in which the NATO chief praises the tycoon's work in Syria. He also mentions that Rutte will use his press interventions in Switzerland to "highlight" his work in Gaza and Ukraine.
Rutte concludes his message by saying he is "committed" to "finding a way forward in Greenland". "Can't wait to see you. Yours sincerely, Mark," Rutte ends his message. The position of the NATO Secretary-General is in question and viewed with suspicion by some European countries, who believe his closeness to Trump is excessively servile, especially when the tycoon has already threatened to forcibly take over Greenland.
As for Macron's messages, the leaked text also indicates that they are "completely" in agreement "on the issue of Syria". "We can achieve great things in Iran. I don't understand what you're doing in Greenland. I can organize a G7 meeting in Paris on Thursday afternoon after Davos," added the French President.
But there's more, as Trump and his team's activity on the mentioned social media platform has been very intense in the last few hours. And aggressive and disrespectful, of course. The US President has stated that the UK is going to commit a "great stupidity" in the Chagos Islands.
"Our 'brilliant' NATO ally, the UK, is currently planning to give Mauritius the island of Diego Garcia, which belongs to the Chagos archipelago, where there is a 'vital' US military base. "And doing so without any reason at all. There is no doubt that China and Russia have taken note of this act of total weakness," Trump added.
And, of course, he has found in all this a new reason to acquire his coveted island from the Kingdom of Denmark. In his opinion, the UK's decision is "another one in a very long list of national security reasons why Greenland must be acquired". "Denmark and its European allies have to do the right thing," he added.
