According to the document published on the mission's website, the evacuation order was carried out "as a precaution" after a direct threat against the facilities was detected. Although the diplomatic delegation did not provide specific details about the nature of the danger, this strategic move comes immediately after the Iraqi militia Kataib Hezbollah, backed by Iran, threatened to launch attacks against US military bases deployed on Jordanian soil.

The situation around the embassy reflects a state of maximum alert. The Jordanian police formally urged residents in neighboring areas to stay in their homes, keep windows closed, and take various preventive security measures. Throughout Tuesday, a significant police presence was observed monitoring and completely blocking traffic on the streets leading to the American compound. The crisis atmosphere was heightened by the recurring sound of emergency sirens and the overflight of planes from the Royal Jordanian Air Force over the diplomatic area.

This coordinated evacuation could be a prelude to a broader withdrawal of diplomatic personnel from Jordan, in a rapidly deteriorating regional context. Violence has escalated dramatically since last Saturday, following the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Since that event, the United States and Israel have maintained a constant offensive against Iranian territory. Meanwhile, Tehran and its regional allies have responded with targeted counterattacks not only against Israel but also against US military assets in neighboring Gulf countries and vital targets for global oil and natural gas production. The evacuation in Amman underscores the extreme vulnerability of Western positions as the conflict unpredictably spreads throughout the Middle East.
