Singer Tommy DeCarlo, vocalist of the American band Boston, passed away on Monday at the age of 60, as announced by his family.
"After being diagnosed with brain cancer last September, he fought with incredible strength and courage until the end. During this difficult time, we kindly ask that friends and fans respect our family's privacy as we mourn and support each other," wrote his wife, Annie, and his children Talia and Tommy Jr. on the musician's Instagram account.
After the disease was detected, the family decided to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of treatment and hospitalizations. "He is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support he has already received from friends, family, and fans around the world. This has given him strength in the toughest moments and reminded him that he is not alone," were the words of gratitude to the donors.
Tommy DeCarlo became the lead singer of Boston in 2008, a year after the death of Brad Delp, the original singer of the group. At that time, he was working in a store and uploaded some cover versions of the band's songs to his MySpace profile that were liked by the band, leading them to sign him.
