According to security sources, explosions were reported near the diplomatic compound, located in the heavily fortified Green Zone.

Defense systems were activated upon detecting multiple drones loaded with explosives approaching the US embassy. As of now, no casualties or significant damage have been confirmed, although the attack has caused alarm in the Iraqi capital.

This incident is part of a wave of attacks attributed to militias backed by Iran, in response to the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel. In recent days, US diplomatic and military facilities in the region have been recurrent targets of drones and missiles.

This is not the first time the embassy in Baghdad has faced such aggressions. In recent weeks, it had already been attacked with rockets and other devices, highlighting the vulnerability even of the most heavily fortified areas in the city and the escalating military tensions in the region.
