Last week, two journalists were slightly injured after being hit in an attack while carrying out their informative work near the coastal city of Tyre. The incident occurred amidst the open war that the Israeli army is waging against the militant group Hezbollah.
The affected reporters have been identified as Steven Sweeney, a correspondent for the Russian state news channel RT, and his cameraman, Ali Reda Sbeiti. Sweeney was broadcasting about the Israeli attacks on the infrastructure in southern Lebanon when the explosion occurred. A shocking video, shared on various social media platforms, captures the exact moment when a projectile falls just a few meters away from the correspondent while he was reporting in front of the camera.
Immediately after the incident, both were taken to a hospital in the city of Tyre. According to medical reports, Sweeney had shrapnel wounds on his arm, while Sbeiti received treatment for minor injuries. Although the specific circumstances surrounding the impact are not entirely clear, Sbeiti told local media that the area had other television crews present due to the informative relevance of the targets being attacked.
The attack took place in a strategic area near the Litani River, where Israeli forces have intensified their bombings on bridges parallel to their ground operations. This event once again highlights the extreme danger that war correspondents face when trying to document the destruction of key infrastructures in active combat zones.
