President Donald Trump has warned on his social network that "an entire civilization will die" in Iran if the regime does not comply with his ultimatum while the US bombs the Iranian island of Jark.
"An entire civilization will die tonight, never to return. I don't want it to happen, but it probably will," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "WHO KNOWS?" he added.
The United States has bombed the strategic island of Jark for the second time since the conflict between the US and Israel against Iran began. In this case, according to the Iranian news agency Mehr, explosions have been heard all morning. Later, a US military official told US media that their aviation has hit a dozen targets, including bunkers, a radar station, and an ammunition depot.
According to the news portal Axios, the United States has been considering occupying the island of Jark for weeks to have a powerful lever that would force Iran, in turn, to loosen the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, where the Tehran regime has a clear strategic advantage.
With just 20 square kilometers of surface area and located 25 kilometers from the Iranian city of Bushehr, at the northern end of the Gulf, the oil terminal on the island of Jark exports around 90% of Iranian crude and is supplied through pipelines from nearby offshore fields. The United States and Israel have bombed the island's military installations, but not the oil facilities, something that could mean the end of Iran as a viable state. Many analysts believe this has not happened yet because Washington, unlike Tel Aviv, still wants to have a counterpart on the other side to negotiate with.
The report itself, accessed by Axios, reveals that this is a plan being seriously studied by the Pentagon, although Trump has not made a final decision. It is assumed that the Iranians have the island well defended even before this leak became known.
It is still early to know if this is a preparatory bombing before a US landing on the island or another attempt to wear down the military capabilities of the Revolutionary Guard. This happens just hours before the end of the ultimatum set by Donald Trump for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and stop conditioning and threatening tanker traffic. In exchange, if Tehran does not comply, the blond president has promised to destroy the bridges and power plants across the country, as well as send Iran "back to the Stone Age."
In reality, these types of attacks have been happening for several days. Yesterday, Israel bombed the South Pars gas fields again, and Iran attacked the industrial city of Jubail this morning, the largest petrochemical center in the Middle East.
