The decision comes within what the Government defines as a "new situation", marked by the start of peace negotiations between the parties involved in the regional conflict.

Albares explained that these talks will begin next Saturday with the mediation of Pakistan, and Spain seeks to "join that effort for peace" with its diplomatic presence on the ground. The minister emphasized the importance of strengthening dialogue at a crucial moment for stability in the Middle East.

Additionally, Albares confirmed that he has had a conversation with his Iranian counterpart to convey Spain's support for the mediation process. During that contact, he urged Iran to get involved decisively in the negotiations, as well as to cease attacks against Gulf countries and to use its influence over Shiite militias in the region.

The Spanish Foreign Minister also called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to international maritime traffic, highlighting its strategic relevance for global trade.
