During a conversation aboard the papal plane en route to Algeria with journalist Nicole Winfield, the Pontiff emphasized that his stance is not meant to attack anyone but to reaffirm the fundamental principles of Christianity.

"The message of the Gospel is very clear: blessed are the peacemakers," he affirmed, emphasizing his commitment to peace, reconciliation, and dialogue. Leo XIV stressed that he will continue to promote bridge-building and reject war whenever possible, in line with the Church's mission in the current global context.

Additionally, he regretted Trump's statements, pointing out that comparing his message to political objectives demonstrates a misunderstanding of evangelical values. The Pope's remarks come amid growing tension with the US president, who had previously criticized his stance on international politics. Nevertheless, Leo XIV made it clear that he will not alter his discourse, reaffirming his role as a spiritual leader focused on peace and understanding.
