During the conversation, Trump defended previous decisions by stating that it was necessary to "change course" to avoid more serious scenarios. He expressed that if certain measures had not been taken, Iran could have developed a nuclear weapon, which would have shifted the geopolitical balance in the region. He also added that, in that hypothetical scenario, other countries would end up treating each other with greater diplomatic submission.

When asked by Bartiromo if the war had ended, the U.S. President responded that he believes the conflict is "very close to concluding". Trump also mentioned that an immediate withdrawal could delay the country's reconstruction for decades, stating that the process has not yet been completely closed.

The President also indicated that new rounds of talks could take place "in the next two days," mentioning the possibility of meetings in Islamabad, while diplomatic contacts continue through indirect channels.

According to regional officials, the United States and Iran have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement to extend a two-week ceasefire, which is set to expire on April 22, with the aim of facilitating the continuity of diplomatic negotiations.

Trump's statements come in a context of high international tension, where negotiations seek to avoid a further escalation of the conflict and open a stable path towards a possible agreement between both parties.
