The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy has warned that it will "use a new card" if the United States attacks the Islamic Republic again, amid tensions in the ongoing negotiation process to try to reach an agreement.

"If the United States makes a miscalculation and attacks Iran again, the Revolutionary Guard Navy will use its new cards [...] and destroy the regime's gigantic ships, leaving them out of service," said the political deputy director in statements quoted by the Iranian agency Fars.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump has reportedly instructed his advisors to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iran, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing US officials. The Republican president has chosen to continue pressuring the Iranian economy and its oil exports by preventing maritime transport in its ports.

Von der Leyen: "The consequences of the conflict could last for months or even years"

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said on Wednesday that the consequences of the conflict in the Middle East "could last for months or even years" and urged European countries to continue reducing their dependence on imported energy.

"There is a harsh reality that we must face: the consequences of this conflict could last for months or even years. This is the second major energy crisis in just four years. The lesson must be clear to everyone: in a turbulent world like ours, we cannot be too dependent on imported energy," Von der Leyen said before the European Parliament.

US Embassy congratulates Iraq's new Prime Minister

The US Embassy in Baghdad congratulated the newly appointed Iraqi Prime Minister, Ali al-Zaidi, on Wednesday, appointed after strong US pressure to prevent the return to power of Nouri al-Maliki, considered close to neighboring Iran.

Hezbollah killed an Israeli Ministry of Defense worker on Tuesday with an explosive drone who was operating engineering machinery alongside troops in southern Lebanon, territory occupied by Israeli forces.

According to Israeli Army sources informed EFE on Wednesday, the victim was an employee of an engineering company "carrying out projects for the Ministry of Defense" of Israel, in an attack that also injured another worker, who was the deceased's son.

The attack took place in the Aitaroun area, near the Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil, located within the strip of territory in southern Lebanon that Israel has occupied under the pretext of protecting Israeli communities in the north from Hezbollah attacks.

At least eight dead, including three paramedics, in Israeli attacks on Lebanon

At least eight people died on Tuesday in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, including three members of the Civil Defense who were carrying out rescue operations, while another 30 were injured, including two Lebanese Army soldiers.

The worst bombing took place in the town of Majdal Zoun, where five people lost their lives, "including three paramedics from the Lebanese Civil Defense who were trapped under the rubble after an attack while carrying out a rescue mission," as reported by the Emergency Operations Center in a statement.
