The United States and Iran are getting closer to reaching a one-page memorandum of understanding to end the war, according to a Pakistani source involved in peace efforts who confirmed a previous report by Axios to Reuters on Wednesday.

"We will close it very soon. We are close," the source said.

In a new turn of events, US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that, at the request of Pakistan, he is suspending the military operation 'Operation Freedom', which involves securing the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, to assess the possibility of reaching a definitive agreement with Tehran.

Trump posted on Truth Social that the suspension of the military operation, which began on May 3, is due to "significant progress towards an agreement" with Tehran, without providing further details. The Republican indicated that the US naval blockade on Iran will remain in effect, and the suspension of this specific operation aims to determine if the agreement "can be finalized and signed."

The US Central Command forces had only managed to secure the passage of a few ships through the strait. Additionally, there have been repeated attacks in the region involving small boats and drones, some of which the United Arab Emirates attributed to Iran.

Israel to transfer aircraft fuel to Germany following the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz

Israel will transfer aircraft fuel to Germany after Berlin requested assistance in recent days following the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Israeli Ministry of Energy as reported by Reuters.

The coordination of the shipments will be carried out in conjunction with refineries, the ministry stated, without providing details on the quantity of fuel or a delivery schedule.

The ministry added that it will also explore ways to assist Germany in terms of natural gas.

According to the statement, the measure was agreed upon by the Minister of Energy, Eli Cohen, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Saar, who communicated it to his German counterpart during a visit to Berlin.
