During his speech, Rubio emphasized that Washington's efforts to reopen this strategic route do not constitute an offensive operation, despite the recent clashes in the area.

The US Secretary of State stated that the main military offensive against Iran has concluded, although he avoided confirming the definitive end of the conflict or ruling out a possible resumption of hostilities. In this context, he explained that the so-called "Epic Fury Operation", launched on February 28 in conjunction with Israel, achieved all its objectives, thus concluding the mission.

Rubio reiterated that the United States' priority is to prevent a new escalation. "We prefer the path of peace," he stated. However, he conditioned any diplomatic progress on Iran accepting the demands set by former President Donald Trump regarding its nuclear program and allowing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, US forces have paused their intentions to escort merchant ships, as only two US-flagged vessels have managed to cross so far.
