The Republican president anticipated that international trade would be the main topic of conversation with the Chinese leader, although they will also address the situation in the Middle East and the conflict with Iran.
"I have an excellent relationship with President Xi. We will discuss many different topics, but mainly trade," Trump told reporters before leaving the White House for China.
Regarding the Iranian conflict, Trump sent a strong message by stating that the United States has the advantage in any scenario. "We either reach an agreement or they will be decimated. One way or another, we win," affirmed the American president.
Trump's visit to Beijing comes at a time of maximum international tension, marked by the war in Iran, trade relations between the United States and China, and Washington's pressure on Beijing to use its influence over Tehran.
The Trump administration seeks to prevent differences over Iran from affecting other strategic issues such as trade or the fight against fentanyl trafficking.
