The hideout, found by chance by the Carabinieri during a police operation, has been described by investigators as a structure "taken from a movie" due to its complexity and level of concealment.

The underground shelter had all the necessary amenities to remain hidden for long periods of time, including a bedroom, a fully equipped bathroom, and various spaces adapted to ensure the survival of its occupants.

One of the elements that caught the attention of the security forces was a sophisticated hidden mechanical system that allowed to open a camouflaged trapdoor to the outside. This mechanism provided access to an escape tunnel approximately 120 meters long, designed to facilitate a quick and discreet escape to a nearby rural area in case of a police raid.

Authorities are now investigating who used the facility and its possible connection to active criminal organizations in Calabria, a region historically linked to the powerful Italian mafia. The discovery highlights the high level of planning and resources used by these networks to evade justice.
