The encounter took place during an operation to remove ghost nets organized by the Healthy Seas Foundation, dedicated to the protection of marine ecosystems.

Divers were working on recovering abandoned fishing gear that had become entangled in a sunken wreck when they spotted the presence of the shark. Initially barely visible as a shadow in the water, the animal slowly approached until its silhouette could be clearly seen. After a few moments, the white shark continued on its way without showing any aggressive behavior.

The mission involved specialists from Ghost Diving, an international organization focused on removing underwater waste. Experts emphasize that the Mediterranean wrecks have become important shelters for numerous marine species, functioning as true biodiversity ecosystems.

The sighting confirms the presence of large predators in this area of the Mediterranean and reinforces the importance of conserving these habitats. It also highlights the need to combat marine pollution and the abandonment of fishing nets, one of the main threats to oceanic fauna and ecosystems.
