A young woman from Arkansas has sued Delta Air Lines and its subsidiary Endeavor Air for 2.35 million dollars after a flight attendant falsely accused her father of human trafficking during a flight, as reported by People.

The incident took place in December 2019, although the lawsuit against the insurance companies in court was filed on December 29, 2025. The woman states that she was traveling with her mother, father, and maternal grandparents from Memphis to Newport News, Virginia, to attend her older brother's graduation from the United States Coast Guard School A. During the second part of their journey, from Atlanta to Newport News, the plane experienced some turbulence, and the plaintiff, who was 13 years old at the time, recalls that she "started to cry." Her father, as stated in the complaint, "comforted his frightened daughter as any good father would in those circumstances." At that moment, the grandparents were seated just in front of them, and her mother was on the other side of the aisle.

Unbeknownst to the family, a flight attendant on board witnessed the interaction and allegedly contacted the captain of the plane to report that she suspected a man "had trafficked" the minor. The mother claims that the flight attendant specifically requested law enforcement intervention and that the man be separated from his family, and during the flight, the woman "furthered her initial, false, human trafficking accusation by also alleging sexual assault," claiming that her father had touched her "inappropriately."

According to the complaint, when the plane landed in Newport News, "armed law enforcement officers boarded the Delta Air Lines aircraft" and physically separated the teenager from her parents "without prior notice," took her father to interrogate him in a "public area of the airport," and read him his rights, according to People.

Authorities ultimately determined, the outlet emphasizes, that there was no probable cause to charge or arrest the father, and the plaintiff alleges that the incident caused her and her father severe and permanent damages. Therefore, she accuses Delta and Endeavor Air of "negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and false imprisonment" and seeks compensation for compensatory damages of 2 million dollars and 350,000 dollars for damages, in addition to interest, court costs, and fees.
