After recently reaching a framework agreement with Iran, Trump attended the meeting with the intention of focusing his efforts on the European war, stating that this issue would now become his immediate priority. "Russia should reach an agreement. Russia has lost a huge number of people, and Ukraine too," declared the president to the press.

During a bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar, Trump expressed his rejection of the continuation of violence, describing the current situation as "ridiculous". The U.S. President justified his intervention in the conflict based on the high human cost, stating that it is unacceptable to see about "25,000 young people die each month". Faced with this reality, the White House tenant firmly committed to act: "I will do everything I can" to stop the confrontation.

During the summit, Trump held a one-hour and fifteen-minute meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, along with other G7 leaders to discuss ways to "build peace and security" in the region. Zelensky, who had not met with Trump since December at Mar-a-Lago, sought a private meeting in Evian to reinforce U.S. support against the "barbaric attacks" recently carried out by Moscow against civilian targets in Kiev.

While Trump advocated for a diplomatic solution, G7 allies agreed to increase economic pressure on the Kremlin through new sanctions targeting gas and oil. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed optimism about opening a "window for diplomacy" and made a gesture of courtesy to Trump by giving him a German national team jersey with the number 47, in reference to his presidential term. Simultaneously, the United Kingdom announced the supply of enriched uranium for Ukrainian nuclear power plants, reaffirming the Western commitment to support Kiev against Vladimir Putin's offensive.
