The music producer Tay Keith, known for his work with some of the biggest names in hip-hop and nominated twice for the Grammy Awards, passed away at the age of 29 in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to local police, the artist, whose real name was Brytavious Chambers, was found dead in his apartment during an inspection by the authorities. The authorities indicated that, at the moment, there are no signs of third-party involvement in his death. The cause of death has not yet been determined and will be clarified through an autopsy.
Born and raised in Memphis, Keith started producing music at the young age of 14 and over the years became one of the most influential figures in the American rap scene. His definitive breakthrough to fame came in 2018 thanks to his involvement in two of the biggest hits of the year: 'Sicko Mode' by Travis Scott, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and 'Nonstop' by Drake, which reached the second position.
His work on 'Sicko Mode' earned him his first Grammy nomination in 2019. Years later, he was once again recognized by the Academy for his production on Rich Flex, a track performed by Drake and 21 Savage, which gave him a second nomination in 2024.
Throughout his career, he collaborated with an extensive list of artists, including Beyoncé, Eminem, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Future, J. Cole, Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Miley Cyrus, and Moneybagg Yo. He was also a key player in the rise of Sexyy Red, producing tracks like 'Pound Town and Get It Sexyy'.
