The Civil Defense of Brazil has announced that the national alert system was deactivated at 1:30 local time this Saturday after "suffering an intrusion " that sent false threat messages to the population in various regions of the country, "remotely ordered by someone outside the National Civil Protection and Defense System" in what is defined as a "probable" pirate attack.

"The triggered message was of the Extreme Alert type and contained the word misanthropy , which means 'hatred towards humanity'. It is probably a hacker attack," explained the platform in a statement distributed on social media.

"The National Secretariat for Civil Protection and Defense of the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development will activate the Federal Police and take measures to recover the system as quickly as possible, once all security conditions have been reestablished," they added.
