The North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) intercepted two commercial aircraft on Sunday that violated restricted airspace over Bedminster (New Jersey), where the golf club where U.S. President Donald Trump spent the weekend is located.
Norad reported in a statement that both aircraft were safely escorted out of the restricted area by F-16 fighter jets, as reported by Efe
When an aircraft is intercepted by Norad, its pilot must turn around and change course until receiving further instructions.
The operation was carried out by the Continental United States Region of Norad, based at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.
Norad reminded that all commercial aircraft pilots must consult Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) before each flight.
The Trump National Golf Club Bedminster is a private golf club located about 64 kilometers west of New York, where the president usually spends weekends during the summer.
