Israeli security minister calls for killing "between 30 and 40 people" every night in Gaza

The Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, one of the most radical members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition, has sparked new controversy by publicly advocating for the deaths of dozens of people in Gaza every night

During a conversation with former hostage Rom Braslavski, broadcast on a podcast, Ben-Gvir stated that Israel should carry out "targeted killings" and kill between 30 and 40 people each night. His statements have drawn criticism for the language used and for his proposals regarding the future of the Strip.

The minister also defended the mass expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza and the establishment of Israeli settlements in the territory. "I consider all of Gaza to be ours," he stated, while advocating for the recovery of settlements dismantled by Israel in 2005 and their expansion throughout the enclave.

These statements come as negotiations to solidify a ceasefire remain stalled. The proposal promoted by Donald Trump envisions Hamas gradually handing over its weapons in exchange for an end to Israeli offensives and military withdrawal.

Hamas has conditioned disarmament on progress towards the creation of a Palestinian state, a possibility rejected by the Netanyahu government.

This episode once again places Ben-Gvir at the center of the debate on Israeli policy in Gaza.
