Trump tells a CNN journalist to be quiet when she asks about his relations with North Korea: "Shut up, you are fake news"

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, had a tense confrontation with CNN's correspondent at the White House, Kristen Holmes, during an exchange with journalists in the Oval Office

Holmes tried to ask him about his recent contacts with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, and about the decision to scale down military exercises between the United States and South Korea. Trump interrupted her several times, called her "loud" and "boisterous", and accused her of spreading "fake news."

In response to the journalist's persistence, Trump stated that Kim has responded to his messages and claimed that the communications between them are "very positive", although he did not disclose their content.

The president also defended the reduction of joint military exercises with Seoul, a decision that, he argued, will help make the Korean peninsula a "safer place".

Trump also recalled his relationship with Kim, with whom he met three times during his first term. Negotiations on North Korean denuclearization ended without an agreement, but the U.S. president now insists on keeping dialogue open with Pyongyang.

The episode once again highlights the relationship between Trump, North Korea, and its traditional allies in Asia.
