According to the family, Wright suffered from heart failure and complications related to Marchiafava-Bignami disease, a rare degenerative neurological disorder. His family has requested privacy and indicated that they will share details about his life and legacy at a later time.
Born in New York on April 30, 1956, Wright began his career in the late 1970s and appeared in over 50 movies and series. One of his early works was 'The Wanderers', but he gained great popularity with 'V', the iconic science fiction production of the 1980s, where he portrayed Elias Taylor, a member of the resistance against the alien invasion.
In Spain, the series became one of the major television phenomena of that decade. Wright later reprised the character in 'V: The Final Battle' and in the continuation of the series.
Another of his most remembered roles was Eddie King Jr. in 'The Five Heartbeats', in addition to his appearances in 'Sugar Hill', 'Streamers', 'The Principal', and series like 'Miami Vice' and 'Oz', where he played Omar White.
