The meteorological phenomenon caused damage to around 300 homes, as reported by the Prefecture of the Aude department.
Of those affected, 15 had to be transported to hospitals for medical attention. Over 120 firefighters were deployed in the area, supported by specialists and reinforcements from neighboring departments.
Emergency teams worked to secure the affected buildings and reduce the risk of new accidents, especially on the ground floors of the structures that suffered structural damage.
The severe storm episode also caused significant disruptions in transportation across much of southern France. Airports in Bordeaux, Toulouse, Marseille, and Nice, as well as several in Paris, experienced operational issues.
Rail traffic was interrupted between Narbonne and Sète, and numerous regional services in Nouvelle-Aquitaine were canceled. Authorities anticipate that the meteorological instability will continue in the coming days, with potentially violent storms in different areas of the country.
