The famous Chinese influencer Chen Ziyi, known for her content based on consuming large amounts of food, a phenomenon known as "mukbang," passed away on August 17 at the age of 24.

Ziyi's parents announced the news on social media on September 4, revealing that, three days before her death, the content creator had to urgently go to the hospital due to a severe potassium deficiency (only 2.3 millimoles per liter), diagnosed as hypokalemia.

Her health problems were due to the excesses she committed in her videos; in one of them, she consumed between 60 and 70 eggs during a single broadcast.

The case has raised concerns about "mukbang," a practice that has already caused serious complications in other creators. This trend, which emerged in South Korea in the late 2000s, involves broadcasting massive food binges such as seafood, noodles, fried foods, or hypercaloric processed foods in front of the camera.
