Morocco has received a strong political gesture from Israel and the United States amid the crisis in Ceuta. Morocco and Israel announce that they are strengthening an agreement that reinforces their political, economic, and technological alliance with the sponsorship of the United States.
The event took place in New York with the presence of the United States Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Mike Waltz; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, Nasser Bourita; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, Gideon Sa'ar. The latter is usually very critical of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.
According to their joint statement, "the participants confirmed their agreement to elevate the diplomatic missions between Morocco and Israel to full-fledged embassies and proceed with the exchange of ambassadors."
Similarly, "Israel and Morocco have agreed to finalize, by the end of 2026, agreements on investment protection and prevention of double taxation, which will facilitate reciprocal investments and contribute to promoting economic and business links between peoples and countries." Another aspect is that "the participants deeply value their cooperation in technology, security, and innovation, especially during difficult times. This cooperation continues to strengthen bilateral and trilateral relationships and offers practical solutions that benefit the peoples of the region."
According to the Israeli official on his social media, "the relations between Israel and Morocco are important for the benefit of both peoples. We thank our American friends for their contribution to strengthening them."
The joint declaration includes that "the United States and Israel reaffirm their recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the entire territory of Western Sahara and their support for the Moroccan proposal for autonomy, which they consider serious, credible, and realistic, as the only basis for a just and lasting solution to the dispute over the Western Sahara territory." In their view, "any other approach prolongs the status quo and is unacceptable. This solution, which they urgently consider necessary, will not only bring peace to the region but also prosperity and greater integration for all of Africa."
Additionally, "Israel and Morocco recognize and value the United States and, in particular, President Trump, as a visionary leader especially capable of achieving peace where no one else believed it was possible. The participants understand that greater regional integration, based on this historical foundation, will lead to greater peace, stability, and shared prosperity in the Middle East and beyond."
