Prior to his official statement, Macron met with the crisis cabinet and the Ministers of Interior and Justice. Some French media speculated the possibility of the president declaring a state of emergency and imposing curfews, but ultimately, he did not announce any of these measures.

During his address, the president blamed far-left groups and criminals for the episodes of violence recorded in various French cities.

"Yesterday, rebels from far-left groups joined by criminals unleashed extreme violence in our cities," Macron began.

"Law enforcement, despite their professionalism, faced unprecedented violence in numerous cities for many hours," the president continued.

Finally, Macron stated that the Government will analyze the failures in crisis management to prevent similar situations from recurring. "I have asked the Government to take note, to draw all the lessons in terms of information and anticipation so that something like this does not happen again, and I expect clear answers... there will be full transparency," he concluded.
