The emergency began when an off-road vehicle attempted to cross a flooded section. The engine stalled, and the current began to submerge the vehicle with the occupant trapped inside. Without hesitation, Murray dropped the microphone and went to the rescue. With the help of a passerby, the journalist entered the current and managed to extract the driver seconds before the car was completely submerged.

The three individuals emerged from the water without serious injuries. The Morayfield area recorded rainfall accumulations close to 170 mm in a few hours, maintaining the flood alert in the state of Queensland. The video of the rescue has gone viral on social media, highlighting both the violence of the winter storm and the quick response of the journalistic team.
