This electoral defeat is a setback for Donald Trump, although the president has refrained from interpreting it as a personal punishment.

In statements to Fox News, Trump congratulated his rivals on the results and stated, "I don't see it as a personal attack." The president acknowledged that the Democrats had been seeking a victory of this nature for 11 years and had finally achieved it.

The so-called blue wave has also highlighted the limits of large financial investments in Republican campaigns, including those linked to Elon Musk. From Texas, elected Senator James Talarico sent a direct message to major donors: "Power belongs to the people."

The Democrats have secured particularly symbolic victories in South Carolina, Texas, and Kansas, states where Republicans had maintained a dominant position for decades. The results open a new political chapter in Washington and leave Trump facing two years of a legislature with an opposition that regains control of Congress.
