This event took place on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the poet's birth.

The celebration was presided over by Queen of Spain, Letizia, marking the first event of her State visit to China. The chosen location, Wangjianglou Park, is notable not only because it houses all species of bamboo in China but also for its deep historical connection to poetry. This park was the home of the 9th-century poet, Xue Tao, who lived in exile in Chengdu while fleeing war during the Tang Dynasty.

Queen Letizia's presence in this historically symbolic venue strengthens the cultural and poetic ties between Spain and China.
